Appleton Trophy has the capability to laser-engrave the slide. The Gen 3 has a different coating from the Gen 4, so the contrast is greater.

 

In the 1980’s, our revolvers had the DSP door shield stamped into the right side of the weapon. Pachmeyer grips partially cover the shield, and it is not for sale! This is the inspiration for the current design, similar to what other states and agencies have done.

The cost for engraving is $35 per gun, plus shipping. You only need to send the slide to Appleton Trophy, so you don’t need to deal with the hassle of involving a firearms dealer. You can also call ahead and make an appointment to get it done in person while you wait.

 

They can put up to 3 lines on the right side of the slide, in addition to the door shield. Just a caution that the door shield makes it collectible, but too much personalization may actually reduce value.

 

One alternate suggestion would be – 75th Anniversary, 1939 – 2014, even though we do not have a specific anniversary issued weapon.
